“It’s beautiful,” her mother said, holding Blake’s left hand.

Blake eyed me over her shoulder before looking back at her mom. “This is why you’re here, isn’t it? You didn’t really want to go on a chase!”

“Of course I wanted to go on a chase! This just happens to be a bonus!” Ms. Caster laughed, hugging Blake before flinching from another roar of thunder.

Blake squinted toward the sky as she walked back to the Tracker Jacker, where I motioned to the bouquet of white lilies I had resting next to a bottle of champagne. I held my arms out, indicating the storm thrashing around us.

“I thought we’d have more time before this hit!” I said loud enough for everyone to hear me.

John grabbed the champagne bottle and popped the cork. “When have these things ever done what they’re supposed to?” he asked, pouring us each a half glass. “Drink it quick!”

We all threw back the contents of the cups he handed out, which were probably half rain and half champagne by the time he was done. The celebration mixed with the adrenaline and pure happiness I felt was making me more drunk than the champagne ever could.

“They’re beautiful,” Blake said, scooping up the flowers.

  “They’re wet.” I laughed.

“A byproduct of the lifestyle we live!” She grinned and glanced at the wall cloud that was now slowly churning. “Let’s roll,” she said, tossing her cup into the back of the Tracker Jacker and stepping toward the Mocking Jay.

I grabbed her arm, stopping her. “We’re not done, yet,” I said, motioning to Paul.

“Here?” Blake asked when she’d caught on to my meaning. “Now?”

I gestured to the area around us. “Where else would we get married, Blake?”

A slow, easy smile spread across her face as she looked at the guys and her mother and the storm so close to us. “It’s perfect!”

I threaded our fingers, and we both turned to face Paul. John hurried to my other side, Blake’s mom to hers.

“Awesome,” Paul said, swiping the rain out of his face. “I’ve been waiting all season to do this!”

We both chuckled, and I raised my eyebrows for him to get a move on.

“Okay, first off,” Paul said, loud enough so we could hear him clearly. “And this is very important, maybe the most important part of this process . . . I have to ask you two both a serious question.” He arched an eyebrow, his gaze jumping between the two of us as he held us in painful anticipation. “What did the hurricane say to the coconut palm tree?” When neither of us answered, he continued, “Hold on to your nuts, this is no ordinary blow job!”

I clenched my fist, shocked he’d just uttered one of his signature horrible weather jokes when he was supposed to be marrying us. Blake, on the other hand, held her side from laughing so hard. Luckily, her mother was doing the same thing.

Blake shook her head, reeling it in as she looked at me. “Why,” she said, pointing at Paul, “did you pick this one to ask to be an officiant?”

  “I didn’t!”

“I wanted to,” Paul said. “Jokes aside, let’s get this done! We have a storm to catch.”

Blake straightened, and we focused on Paul once again.

“Do you, Dash Lexington, take Blake Caster to be your lawfully, and Paulfully wedded wife? Forsaking all others, in all stages of life, as long as you live?”

“I do.” I shook my head, but Blake giggled again.

“Do you, Blake Caster, take Dash Lexington to be your lawfully wedded husband, doing everything I just said for him?”

She looked up at me, chuckling, and nodded. “I do.”

“Then, by the power vested in me from the awesome state of Oklahoma, I now pronounce you married! Kiss her, bro!”

Taking her face between my hands, I brought my mouth down on hers, parting her lips with my tongue as rain rolled down our faces. I gently pushed her back, holding her gaze with my own, silently telling her every vow we hadn’t said, assuring her with every brush of my lips I would love her forever.

“All right,” Paul said, clearing his throat. “Let’s not overdue it. A tornado is about to drop a mile away, remember?”

Blake grinned, stepping backward but still holding my hand. “Thanks, Paul,” she said, wrapping him in a one-armed hug.

John clapped before a loud roar of thunder vibrated all our chests.

“Time to chase, husband,” Blake said, tugging on my hand after she’d given her mother another hug.

“Normal people would say it’s time for the honeymoon, wife.” The title felt like pure gold spilling from my mouth. Pending a quick signature on the marriage license I knew Paul had in the Tracker Jacker, Blake was officially mine. Forever.

She reached up on her tiptoes, lightly pressing her lips against mine before arching an eyebrow. “Don’t you get it?” she asked, patting the center of my chest before she motioned toward the Mocking Jay. “Every day from here on out is a honeymoon.”
